A few moments after the 9/11 attack that caused the fall of the twin towers of WTC in New York City, United States, an information was spread throughout the internet. This information was so viral at the time, even maybe it is still being used as an authentic evidence of the Quran’s greatness.
The information was spread on many Islamic blogs, which of course, not valid if being used as a reference. However, so many muslims believed this information, causing them to be more faithful to the Quran. After all, this information is a lie, a hoax, or maybe somebody’s work trolling at us. Unfortunately, those who believes this information gain their faith because of a lie.
The information we’re going to investigate comes from an Indonesian blog, Serunique.com. The spread of this information in Indonesian, which is the biggest muslim country by population, is undoubtedly fast, making the search of the original poster almost impossible. However, if you google “9/11 prediction in Quran” maybe you’ll get an article containing this information, but mostly they talks about the eagle verse, which is also a hoax.
Basically, the information is trying to say that the 9/11 attack was predicted on a verse in the Quran. I have translated the Indonesian article into english.
The fall of the WTC on September 11th 2001 was written in the Quran since 1500 years ago.
You may know about this event, but here I am going to tell you a new fact about the miracle of the Quran. This event is mentioned in the Quran in Surah At-Tawbah 109.
“Then is one who laid the foundation of his building on righteousness [with fear] from Allah and [seeking] His approval better or one who laid the foundation of his building on the edge of a bank about to collapse, so it collapsed with him into the fire of Hell? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”
That verse mentioned the fall of a building because it was build by the kafir. It is also mentioned on that verse the words “JURUFIN HAR” which was being interpreted by classic ulama as “on the edge of falling cliff” and 14 centuries later it became a name of a street in New York City, the place where WTC stood still, which is JERF HAR Street.
WTC buildings falls on 9-11-2001
Let’s take a look at some similarities (which is not supposed to be coincidences)
It happened on the 11th day, is it a coincidence that Surah At-Tawbah also listed on juz’ 11?
The tragedy happened on September (the 9th month), is it a coincidence that Surah At-Tawbah is the 9th Surah in the Quran?
The year is 2001, is it also a coincidence that the number of letters in Surah At-Tawbah happens to be also 2001?
The number of story of WTC building is 109 stories, again, is it also a coincidence that this event is mentioned in Surah At-Tawbah 109?
After studying every claims, I have found lot of errors.
Is it true that the 9/11 tragedy was written in the Quran 1500 years ago?
The tragedy happened on 2001, if we substract 1500 years it would be year 501. The question is, does the Quran already exist at that time? Even Muhammad was not born yet back then. This may be a little error, but it is an indication that whoever made this information, either he/she is not careful or he/she does not study about history.
Does the verse talks about 9/11?
Let’s take a look at the verse, taken from Quran.com with the International and Indonesian translation.
The verse says that those who build his building on the edge of a bank which about to collapse will fall with the building with him in the fire of Hell. Then, is true that the building mentioned was the WTC twin towers? Let’s take a step back to the previous two verses to know what exactly the mentioned building was.
It turns out that the mentioned building is a mosque build by the hypocrites in order to cause harm and division among the believers. Please do more study about these verses and you will know that it has nothing to do with buildings located on New York City.
Is it true that WTC was located on Jerf Har street?
There is no street named Jerf Har anywhere around the place where WTC once stood still. Besides, it is a little strange for a street to have an Arabic name in a western place inhabited by white people.
Please go to New York City if you want to, and you will found that no street named Jerf Har ever exist. Or use Google Maps and other sources on the internet to confirm the non-existence of this street. Take a look on the screenshot of Google Maps below regarding the location of the original WTC.
What is the correlation between juz’, the order of the Surahs, number of letters, and the verse order with an event that uses Gregorian calendar to mark the date?
It is clear that this information fits in the term Bucailleism. If we can interpret Quran using numerology, then technically we can predict the future using the Quran, but this is not the case. After all, prediction using numbers is forbidden in Islam because it is similar to gambling.
Numerology is not a method to interpret the Quran, because Quran is not arranged based on ‘special numbers’.
Moreover, Quran writing structure has changed in terms of pronunciation, thus making the number of letters also changed and therefore can not be a standard.
The claim that says that WTC is 109 stories is also wrong, actually it is 110 stories for sure.
The verdict is, this information is a hoax associated with religion. Lot of muslims believes in this information without asking any question at all. If you believe this information, you should know that you’re making a mistake.
It is common for religious people to believe every miracle claims regarding their own religion. The majority of religious people would easily believe any information that supports their faith, whether it’s right or wrong.
